Sensortec Limited was founded 1996 to develop and commercialise the proprietary research carried out in the 1990’s at the Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry in Moscow, Russia. Research focused on conductive polymers to derive prototypes of the Universal Transducer System (UTS™) hardware and software, and to address a growing market for in-vitro diagnostics and biosensor applications in environmental monitoring and food quality assurance.
Substantial private and institutional investment has now been made. Namely by Generics Asset Management starting in 1999 and the funds advised by GAM (GAM interest is ongoing), further private investment was received in August 2003 from Norcay Holdings Limited, a Hong Kong based fund.
Sensortec also own a food, feed, grain and soil testing laboratory, NRM Limited based in Bracknell with a second laboratory in Cawood, Yorkshire., which routinely provides comprehensive analysis for a number of sectors, including agriculture, horticulture, environment & waste, forestry, construction, amenity and sports turf companies. This provides Sensortec with a stable core business; help with sample preparation and validation issues and entrance into established client relationships.
The current IP portfolio covers the sensing layer and measurement protocol. This is the heart of the platform.
Three patents have been granted in Russia and the US and three further patents have been filed nationally and internationally.
The company now seeks to introduce this platform initially into the commercial arena. It intends to arrange in the first instance feasibility studies followed by non-exclusive/exclusive license to collaborative partners and exploit the technology for specific applications and test menus. The aim is to co-develop the technology into marketable products, tailored to the specific requirements of the collaborative partner. This is possible because of the universal applicability of the UTS™ technology.
Universal Sensors Limited is contracted for the development and commercialization of the Sensortec IP. This is where the technical know-how and expertise resides. All technical detail and explanation can be found on their website. |
